Dr Peter Spili

Peter obtained all his tertiary qualifications from the University of Melbourne, commencing with a Bachelor of Science (with Honours) degree in 1985 and a Bachelor of Dental Science degree in 1989. He practiced in metropolitan Melbourne as a general dentist for 11 years with a special interest in Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry before receiving his Master of Dental Science degree in Endodontics and Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry in 2004. During his specialist training he also completed a thesis on the prognostic consequences of endodontic instrument fracture. This research led to a highly cited publication in the Journal of Endodontics entitled: “The Impact of Instrument Fracture on Outcome of Endodontic Treatment”, the findings of which had immediate universal application in the field of Endodontics.

Aside from being actively involved in full-time specialist practice, Peter also devotes some of his time to teaching at the Postgraduate Endodontic Programme at the University of Melbourne. He is a long-serving member of the Australian Society of Endodontology and Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists and has also served as committee member for the Victorian Branch of the ASE.

Peter’s interests outside of Endodontics include spending quality time with his wife and two daughters. When he is not with them, he is usually working in his garden or fervently following his AFL side, Collingwood.
